The Apple Farm is a small family farm that has been in business for over 40 years. In 1970 three families became partners and decided to start an apple farm. They spent that year removing old diseased apple trees from the property and preparing for the first plantings in 1971. In the early years they sold apples from a small covered wagon, later they built a store which now houses a bakery, a cold storage facility and retail space for all the apples, fresh cider and baked goods.
The past forty years have been filled with challenges and fruitful harvests. With hard work, dedication and the support of the local community we have become a landmark to some and we hope to be able to continue bringing fresh locally grown apples to the community for a long time to come.
We grow 11 varieties here on the farm. Each variety ripens at a different time of the season allowing us to offer Pick Your Own from late August through the end of October. Every variety has unique qualities - explore our varieties here and find the right one for you.
Our Small Wind Project
Why Wind Energy??
Every small farm is now burdened with having to compete in a global marketplace, one in which large scale / factory farms have an enormous advantage. Not immune from these forces we have had to find ways to ensure a sustainable future for our farm and livelihood. One recent opportunity we have had in this regard is to invest in a small wind turbine that can help us to not only produce less green house gases but to moderate the effects of turbulent energy markets and unpredictable fruit yields and prices. This project could help us to maintain the Apple Farm as a viable business and allow us to provide fresh locally grown fruit to the community for many years to come.
